Scripture to Screen dates a Daniel sequel for fall 2027

Scripture to Screen said Monday it will make a second Daniel film. The working title is Daniel, Prophets & Kings. Production is expected to begin in early 2027, with a theatrical release planned for fall 2027.

The first picture is Daniel and the Fiery Furnace, written and directed by Matthew and Daniel Kooman. Mena Massoud plays Daniel. Monday’s release says the sequel follows him as kingdoms rise and fall, while King Nebuchadnezzar goes through a wilderness testing of his own. No actor was named for the next chapter. The same announcement says an Elijah film is in development for 2027, produced by the Kooman brothers, about the prophet who confronts a nation and the worship of false gods. Cast and release plans for both, the note says, come later. Elijah has no start date.

What Monday put on paper

Collide Media Group sent the release through Christian Newswire from Nashville. The brothers are quoted calling the response to the first film “deeply encouraging,” and saying they want movies that send people back to the Bible. Scripture to Screen, which the note says was founded by Matthew, Andrew, and Daniel Kooman, also said it intends to bring a new biblical film to theaters each year. In a September 21 interview, Daniel Kooman had already described more Daniel movies, in this order: Jeremiah, then Nebuchadnezzar, then the lions’ den. Monday’s document dates one working title and describes Nebuchadnezzar’s wilderness, the story in Daniel chapter 4. Jeremiah is not in the release. Neither is the lions’ den.

The gross attached to the word success

The headline on the wire calls the announcement a follow to the “success” of the first film. The body says that picture opened at No. 6 in more than 1,500 theaters and has earned more than $8.1 million. The opening matches the chart: sixth place, $3,303,548, from 1,525 theaters. Through Sunday the domestic total was $8,093,058, which is short of $8.1 million. This weekend the film grossed $248,026 from 355 theaters and finished 19th. The release is using the September rank and a cumulative that is still a rounding step ahead of Sunday’s chart.

The open question is whether fall 2027 becomes a Friday once cameras start, and whether Massoud is still Daniel when a cast list exists. The release left both for a later note.
