How the three days split
The Numbers has Friday at $935,341, Saturday at $671,466, down 28 percent, and Sunday at $508,309, down another 24 percent. Box Office Mojo’s weekend chart matches the $2,115,116 total, the 2,263-theater count, and the tenth-place rank, and it marks the figure final. Friday alone was 44 percent of the weekend. That is a front-loaded open on a western that already had showtimes up for more than a week.
Tenth place put the film behind Aaron Sorkin’s The Social Reckoning, which opened to $5,018,263 from 2,606 theaters, and ahead of Fathom’s Pan’s Labyrinth anniversary run. The per-screen number is the harder comparison. Unveil’s Daniel opened at $2,166 a theater. Badman did $935. More rooms, less work in each one. Runner, Angel’s September wide release, is the studio’s recent map for what happens after a soft average: Mojo has it at $14,436,883 after five weekends, and this weekend it played 78 theaters for $30,034.
The open question is whether a $2.1 million western holds any of those 2,263 rooms into next Friday, or whether the map shrinks the way Runner’s did once the first weekend is spent. New Zealand is dated October 22. Nothing international has posted yet.
