This is not a Bible epic. It is Angel putting Reacher’s lead and Owen Wilson on a wide map between Young Washington’s $47 million summer and the faith titles still ahead. Drummer Boy lands November 6. Zero A.D. is dated December 11. Runner is the studio asking the Guild’s list to buy a mainstream chase.
The hold is the story. Opening weekend was 51 percent of the domestic cume through day twelve. Legs of 1.95 on The Numbers are thin for a wide release that wanted to look like more than a one-weekend event. Screens barely moved, from 2,568 to 2,472. The average fell from $2,516 to $1,217. Wikipedia’s production range of $35 to $45 million, if close, means the theatrical run is not recovering the budget alone.
The same weekend Runner cooled, Daniel and the Fiery Furnace opened without Angel at sixth place. The Numbers now has that weekend at $3.30 million from 1,525 theaters, revised up from the first estimate. Two faith-adjacent distributors in the top ten on different machines: Angel’s action comedy thriller on nearly 2,500 screens, Unveil’s Book of Daniel crowdfund on 1,525.
Angel’s next Fridays are musical and Nativity. Runner leaves them a wide booking that opened, a score the Guild liked, and a second weekend that gave half of it back. The open question is whether November’s for KING + COUNTRY musical and December’s Monteverde Nativity need a different list than the one that showed up for Ritchson and Wilson.
