Daniel and the Fiery Furnace hits $4.47 million

Daniel and the Fiery Furnace has taken $4,466,556 through Wednesday, according to The Numbers, six days after EKKL Entertainment opened the Book of Daniel picture wide. The revised opening weekend is $3,303,548 from 1,525 theaters. That Friday-to-Sunday haul is already 74 percent of the domestic cume. Legs are 1.35.

Matthew and Daniel Kooman wrote and directed for Unveil Studios. Mena Massoud plays Daniel. Elijah Alexander plays Nebuchadnezzar. The opening rooms came in thin at about $2,166 a screen on the revised weekend. The midweek did not repair it. Monday did $331,343. Tuesday rose to $513,816. Wednesday fell to $317,849. Those three days together added about $1.16 million to a total that still leans on the first weekend.

On Thursday the film’s Instagram told followers, “You asked. We heard you,” and said it was adding showtimes in the United States and Canada, with local times at daniel.movie. JubileeCast reported the post the same day. Added screens are not the same thing as sold seats. The claim is demand. The ledger through Wednesday is what exhibitors can check before they decide how many of those 1,525 rooms stay lit this weekend.

Week two starts Friday. Independent Bible titles that open wide without Angel usually need a hold to look like more than a one-weekend booking. A 1.35-leg open that has already spent three-quarters of its money is the other shape: a list that showed up, a first weekend that did most of the work, and a midweek that stayed quiet. Kooman already mapped sequels past the furnace. The open question for this circuit is simpler. How many screens survive Friday after a week that front-loaded almost everything.
