After one song, the war
The July teaser already sold two brothers on opposite sides of the Revolution. In late September Angel put out Wildflower, India Brown singing the first public piece of the score in a meadow. Monday’s trailer, about two and a half minutes, is the first time the studio has put the carol, the muskets, and the family argument in one clip. A British line fires in the woods. Someone sings “I have no gift to bring.” The picture is dated a month before Christmas, and the song everybody already knows is a Nativity carol.
That is a different sell from a single track. Exhibitors who heard Wildflower now have a war musical to book, and Angel’s Opry premiere is still November 4 in Nashville. The national Friday has not moved.
The other title on November 6
Fathom is still opening Jimmy, the KJ Apa biopic of Jimmy Stewart, on the same day. Heartland’s sold-out premiere is the festival version of that fight. A trailer does not print a screen count. It does give Angel a clip that looks like a theatrical event instead of a music video, a month before the chains have to choose rooms.
The open question is whether the full trailer moves those rooms toward the musical, or whether November 6 stays split between a carol and a Stewart biopic.
