A split window, on purpose

Faith distribution has spent a decade arguing about whether the real audience lives in AMC or in the fellowship hall. This weekend refused the argument. The IMAX prints were a proof of scale for trade reporters. The church screens were a proof of habit for the people who actually buy the season.

Come and See has not published a venue-by-venue breakout. Theater-level tracking still treats a sanctuary as a black box, which is convenient if you want the headline to say “theatrical” and inconvenient if you want to know who showed up. Church operators we spoke with described a familiar mix: families who had never bought an IMAX ticket, plus a smaller group that did both nights.

The creative bet underneath the logistics is simpler. Season Five is still Dallas Jenkins shooting a Gospel story at series length, with the same faces and the same risk of piety-as-production-design. The distribution bet is that those faces now travel in two kinds of dark rooms, and that the rooms do not have to pick a winner.
